For those of us that live in Brooklyn, our bikes [3] are more than just about transporting ourselves. They are about transporting our food from the farmers market [4], our laundry from the cleaners [5], and our curbside finds to our humble — and spacious — New York abodes. That’s why the Brooklyn Cruiser [6] is probably the perfect fit for the Brooklynite looking for a smooth ride around town. Their vintage inspired frames will have you looking cool and their built-in cargo holders will keep all your goods safe and sound while scooting down the ever increasing BK bike lanes.

The Brooklyn Cruiser offers a genuine leather dual coil saddle, leather grips, swept back handle bars and a Sturmey Archer 2-speed kick shift hub [7]which allows you to change gears with just a quick peddle backwards. It comes in a delightfully cheery orange and the oh-so-New York jet black — both with cream tires that might ask to be scrubbed on these city streets, if you’d like them to stay creamy white.

The Cruiser has two styles, a traditional women’s with the slanted center shaft and the men’s with a horizontal center shaft. The cargo on the women’s bike comes in the front — begging to be fitted with a basket — and the men’s with cargo on the back, which Brooklyn Cruiser shows with an old wine crate attached (a good look, might we add).

The only thing we’re questioning is where the Brooklyn Cruiser [8] designers reside. We’re thinking they are in the Burg because south Brooklyn’s got hills that call for a slightly larger repertoire than the two gears the Cruiser offers. None the less, this bike is built to fit — most of — our humble borough and our lifestyles. When you order it, it will be delivered to you 80 percent assembled, no Ikea tantrums allowed.
