With BKLYN Designs 2013 just around the corner, we’ve been tooting the horns of some of our favorite NYC-based green designers who will present their work at the fair this year — and we’re excited to announce that Caleb Zipperer will be on the scene with his fresh brand of furniture inspired by games from his youth. Zipperer honed his craft as an apprentice for Dakota Jackson before moving to Williams-Sonoma, where he continues to work as a lead designer while still running his Williamsburg studio. For a sneak peek of his Tetris-inspired creations, check out the Corbu Side Table after the jump.
This year, Zipperer designed the brilliant Corbu Side Table constructed of Baltik birch plywood laminated to high density fiber board. He then painted the table, which takes cues from urban housing projects like the Ferragut Housing Project near Dumbo, with blue graffiti paint and then a layer of gold. Some older highlights include the Achilles Chair that rocks back on its “heels” and the Libe Stool that pays tribute to architect Daniel Libeskind. Be sure to stop in to say hello to Zipperer at at BKLYN Designs, which runs from May 10-12, 2013.
