NYC’s yearly Canstruction competition is back after facing delays due to Hurricane Sandy! The can-tastic competition pits participants against one another to turn over 100,000 food cans into creative works of art like giant sneakers, NYC architectural icons and popular cartoon characters. The finished pieces will be open for public viewing from February 1-11, 2013, after which all of the cans will then be donated to City Harvest to help feed the city’s hungry and those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

On the night of January 31st, Canstruction participants will be busily and meticulously stacking cans to complete their design visions. The outcomes will be on display to the public from February 1-11, 2013. Admission is free but can donations are strongly recommended. The event takes place at Brookfield Place World Financial Center Complex (220 Vesey Street) and is open from 10am-6pm daily except February 11, when it will be open from 10am-5pm. Let’s see if we can top the over 73,970 pounds of food that were donated last year!

Where: Brookfield Place World Financial Center Complex (220 Vesey Street) When: February 1-11, 2013 Hours: 10am-6pm daily except February 11, 10am-5pm Cost: FREE – Suggested donation: At least one can of food per person.
