If you’re one of the many New Yorkers who have been waiting with bated breath for the launch of the Citi Bike bike share system, we’ve got great news for you. CitiBank has opened up registration for the program and is currently offering “founding member” spots to the first 5,000 people who sign up. While there’s no word yet on the official date that bikes will actually be available for rental, you can secure your spot in the program now for an annual membership fee of $95 and be treated to some nice perks in the process.
Benefits of becoming a founding member of the program include: a special founding member key; a 24-hour pass to share with a friend; invitations to skills classes on riding safely in the city; discounts on city bike tours and more.
After many delays due to Hurricane Sandy and other various issues, Citi Bike is expected to be ready for riding this spring with a total of 10,000 bikes and 600 docking stations across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Sign up here to be among the first founding members of this important new system.
