The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) is a non-profit environmental education organization that aims to educate children and adults about sustainable environmental awareness. They advocate for the protection of New York’s open green spaces and bodies of water.

The center has a calendar full of activities and classes that run year-round. Their new yoga program is led by a certified master yoga instructor and the classes are designed to combine the peacefulness of yoga with the serenity of nature. Due to the current cold weather, the center is inviting people of all levels to come in out the cold and breathe deeply inside of their heated log cabin.

When spring comes around, the classes will be taken outside into the tranquil natural surroundings adjacent to the center’s main building.  The “Elements Yoga” classes are currently scheduled once a month on Saturdays, but have become so popular that they’ll be offering two per month starting in April.

The Alley Pond Environmental Center is located at 228-06 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston, Queens.
