  • Many people have heard about 3D-printing, but most have no idea of what it entails or how to do it themselves. Brooklyn-based MakerBot Industries is trying to change that with a new 3D printing store in Manhattan that will demonstrate this amazing technology to the public and show how it can fabricate three dimensional objects. The retail location, which is located at 298 Mulberry St, will have an official launch and unveiling this October.

The news of the retail store came on the same day that MakerBot announced two new Desktop 3D Printers and a brand new software package, MakerWare. In a statement, MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis said: “I have dreamed of opening this store ever since we started MakerBot. Technology like our Desktop 3D Printers has to be seen to be believed. The MakerBot Store is a utopia for creative explorers, and it’s full of MakerBot-made things that make perfect gifts.”

At the store, you’ll be able to witness firsthand what Makerbot’s 3D printers are capable of as well as viewing the just-released MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer. Patrons will also have the chance to purchase amazing gifts and accessories made on MakerBot Desktop 3D Printers. The MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer will also be available in more than 30 colors.

It is hoped that 3D printing store will attract hobbyists, professional engineers and designers as well as printing enthusiasts.
