Stop! Before you throw out that busted lamp or that broken paper shredder, bring them over to the Pop-Up Repair shop for a chance to get them working like brand new. The roving repair center will be opening up a new shop in Manhattan this week. If you’ve got household items that need some TLC, bring them over to save them from the trash pile.
Starting April 5th, the Pop.Fix van will roll into the greenmarkets near Columbia on the Upper West Side and Inwood. New Yorkers with broken furniture, light fixtures, cameras, and nearly anything else that needs fixing will be able to bring their stuff in for a quick repair.
As an extra bonus, starting on at 9am on April 5th and 6th, the first 10 visitors to the Greenmarket repair shops will get their second item repaired for half the price. Just head to the Pop.Fix van in the Columbia Greenmarket at 116th St. and Broadway on Thursdays and Sundays. On Saturdays, the mobile repair shop will be stationed at the Inwood Greenmarket at Isham and Seaman Streets.
Pop-Up Repair first began in June 2013 where it set up shop in Inwood, Manhattan for a month. Next up, along with Manhattan, the shop says it has more locations in the hopper including Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia.
