Halloween is fast approaching, and the Haunted High Line [4] is back again this year and ready for your little witches and ghouls! NYC’s favorite elevated park is inviting families and friends [5] to visit on Saturday, October 27th for a day of scavenger hunts, costumes, and pumpkin decorating – all set to the tune of a live 1930s-style band. Kids and adults will be able to indulge in sweet treats and activities all day long on the stretch of the High Line between West 13th and 18th Streets.

Friends of the High Line and Fulton Youth of the Future [7] worked together to create the day’s theme, which highlights the industrial past of the High Line, and kids and adults alike will meet a cast of fun and spooky historical characters on the scavenger hunt. Meatpackers, train engineers, West Side Cowboys and other historical ghouls will be passing out treats and clues to scavenger hunters, who will learn about the history of the High Line [8] while noshing on sweets.

Pumpkins [9] will also be available for purchase on the Diller-von Furstenberg Sundeck, and can be brought over to the Fulton Youth of the Future and High Line Youth Staff table to be decorated. Kids without costumes can also have their faces painted by High Line staff.

The High Line Ghost train, a giant freight echoing the park’s past, will be set up at Tenth Avenue Square. The train, which is made from recycled materials, will host a puppet show by Ralph Lee for everyone to enjoy!

Haunted High Line Halloween is free and open to the public, so be sure to head on over on the 27th!
