Inside the soaring ceilings of the church, Holy BOS curated an eclectic visual arts exhibition, which adorned the walls of the main congregation and up to the mezzanine. A giant paper sculpture greeted guests who worship at the altar of art, while sculptural skeleton installations were framed in each of the arched doorways on either side of the altar.
Above the balcony, amidst the preserved original stained glass windows, more sculpture and painting were juxtaposed against the rich wood of the pipe organ, meeting the arched ornate German Gothic ceiling. Original highly polished wooden pews offered guests a place to sit, and contemplate the gorgeous installations throughout.
The incredible interior was also host to an art and spirituality infused morning yoga class, giving participants a new serenity in their practice. Light projections turned music performances into an encompassing art installation, with musicians framing themselves under the ornate altar area. Visitors also danced the night away under the cavernous ceiling, and then enjoyed a secret brunch inside the parish the next morning.
With events like Holy BOS!, the historic Bobby Redd Church is given new life through the arts, giving theater groups, musicians, filmmakers and artists a beautiful alternative space to perform.
