The Governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have all declared a state of emergency in advance of Hurricane Sandy’s unwelcome arrival next week. Upgraded to a category 1 hurricane, Sandy has already killed more than 40 people in the Caribbean and is expected to make landfall on Tuesday near Delaware. John Berglund, the director of Greater New York Emergency Services for The Salvation Army told local news that Sandy will become especially fierce when it merges with two other winter systems. “The rain will come down very heavy and very quickly, he said.” You will see flash flooding and flooding throughout the week. Be ready to go a few days without being able to get outside in case of downed power lines and flooded streets.”
