Gallery: It’s the Last Weekend to Take a Ride on the Vintage 1920s Subw...

Starting Labor Day weekend, the MTA has been running a vintage IRT train along the express 2/3 line, from Times Square to 96th street. As a promotion for HBO’s hit series Boardwalk Empire, the 1920s train will be dusted off and put into commission once again. We took a ride on the train’s maiden voyage, but this weekend is the LAST weekend the train will be running, so don't miss your chance to experience this piece of green transportation history! Plus, because this weekend coincides with the debut of the first show of the season, Boardwalk Empire “brand ambassadors” will be handing out free MetroCards in Times Square and 72nd street.

    These are illegal to run and insanely unsafe. MTA is in massive debt due to the fact that it axts more like a historic museum than a transit agency. It’s poor at both and needs to be privatized.
