Laura Sansone is a designer, educator and student of life who holds herself accountable to her local community and the environment in her holistic approach to design. The Mobile Textile Lab has enabled her and her students to experiment with seasonal produce from the cityÕs various green markets while also researching the publicÕs reaction to their presence in a space traditionally reserved only for food vendors. Interweaving food production and waste with fashion, SansoneÕs innovative closed-loop system strengthens community and social ties in unexpected locations. EcouterreÕs Amanda Coen visited SansoneÕs Plattekill, New York studio to explore how nature and local resources inspire her Òslow fashionÓ process.
