Laura Sansone [2] is a designer, educator and student of life who holds herself accountable to her local community and the environment in her holistic approach to design. The Mobile Textile Lab [3] has enabled her and her students to experiment with seasonal produce from the city’s various green markets while also researching the public’s reaction to their presence in a space traditionally reserved only for food vendors. Interweaving food production and waste with fashion, Sansone’s [4] innovative closed-loop system strengthens community and social ties in unexpected locations. Our sister site, Ecouterre [5] visited Sansone’s Plattekill, New York studio to explore how nature and local resources inspire her “slow fashion” process.
