We’re looking forward to all that this weekend’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair will bring, and we just learned that the latest in home furnishings won’t be the only thing visitors can expect at the event. Showgoers who are interested in 3D printing technology will also be able to participate in DesignX‘s hands-on 3D printing workshops in a pop-up classroom at the fair. Over the course of four days, guests will be able to enroll in fifteen different reasonably-priced classes on cutting edge technology and design, including 3D printing, cloud collaboration and 3D design.
Ranging from basic to intermediate instruction, DesignX will offer 3D printing and design techniques that designers can bring directly into their professional practice. Courses will be taught by industry professionals from Mode Lab, Shapeways, Firefly, Francis Bitonti Studio, Nervous System and Machine Made. The carefully curated courses will bring experts together to bring inspirational ideas to designers that encourage using new technology to bring design to the next level.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to work with leaders of the 3D design industry. TED Fellow Skylar Tibbits will be offering a 4D Printing and Bio-molecular course on printing objects that construct themselves when exposed to water heat or air. Francis Bitonti combines technology with fashion and textile design in a 3D printed fabrics course, while Mode Lab bring the basics of 3D printing by showing how digital models translate into physical objects with desktop 3D printers.
Each course is just $69, and also grants free admission to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair.
