Chelsea CSA is a Community Supported Agricultural Program that supplies fresh vegetables and herbs to residents in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan from mid-June to Thanksgiving. The CSA offers payment plans and discounted shares to underprivileged or qualified members and has a member list of varying incomes. Produce is picked up every Tuesday at the Hudson Guild from 4 pm to 7 pm. The money paid to be a member of the CSA supports the Kavakos family of Stoneledge Farm in South Cairo, New York. All of the produce comes from their farm. Members must volunteer at least 6 hours over the course of the growing season at the distribution center as part of their membership.

I have been a member of the Chelsea CSA for two years and am a complete convert to the CSA model. The produce from Stoneledge farm is exceptional and the Kavakos family is highly involved in the CSA community and devoted to sustainable farming. The vegetables are all organic and sustainably grown making it a great value compared to what I would pay at a local store.
