I hired Eco Brooklyn to renovate my home in Park Slope. It was a run down brownstone both inside and out. Needed a total gut. Eco Brooklyn definitely seemed a little cutting edge from the research I did online and at first I didn’t know that was what I wanted. But I really liked the way they saw the renovation as a political act of greening the planet.
After a lot of conversations with the owner I decided to take the leap. The job was definitely not your typical job based on what friends have told me. But I have to say I loved the process.
I felt like I was getting my home built but almost more than that I felt Eco Brooklyn was helping me make a better world. I know, sounds cheesy. But maybe thats just ne being cynical.
They used almost all salvaged materials and really worked hard to not do your typical wasteful renovation. I don’t know how else to describe it but revolutionary. The crew struggled sometimes because it was trying out new things, but by that they found more ecological ways to build, and that was exciting. For me it was very worth while.
For anyone wanting to renovate and do the right thing I can’t urge you enough to check out Eco Brooklyn. They are true game changers.
