Housing Works is an amazing resource and the perfect vehicle for being charitable and recycling new and used products at the same time. They sell and accept donations of new and gently-used fashion, accessory, jewelry, furniture, books, and other household items. You can visit one of their 10 retail locations throughout NYC or bid on their store window auctions online. Each shop has its own unique stock so don’t be surprised if you can’t find all of the same items and every location. Donations of clothing, books, and furniture are tax deductible. All profits go towards helping the homeless and people living with AIDS/HIV, in order to provide them with quality housing, health care, and legal protection from discrimination.

Housing Works is not your average thrift store. They do indeed sell really inexpensive items, but everything is super nice and the stores are always clean and organized. This location is Tribeca has a $5 bin that always seems to be filled with the best stuff in the store.
