DESCRIPTION

The Lower East Side Ecology Center was founded in 1987 as one of the first organizations to offer community-based recycling and composting programs in New York City.  The Ecology Center’s location in the East River Park makes it the perfect place to learn about science! They offer free public compost collection and education, electronic waste recycling, stewardship of public open space, and environmental education. They offer drop off spots at most Greenmarkets in the city and host educational events about composting and recycling at their center and throughout the five boroughs.
