DESCRIPTION

Recycle-A-Bicycle is a New York based non profit focused on the health and well-being of urban youth. The organization provides educational/job training programs for youth, encourages environmental stewardship through re-use and promotes daily bike use. Students in New York can enroll in a bicycle mechanics elective course, or drop in after school to volunteer and earn a bike with volunteer hours. They also have two stores where anyone can buy a bike and contribute to the cause — all their two-wheeled, human-powered vehicles are one of a kind!

My friend works for a similar organization in Buffalo. This is where I ended up buying a bike- it was inexpensive, and the guy taught me a lot about taking care of/servicing the bike even before I committed to buying it.
