Scott Jordan Furniture opened in Brooklyn in 1980, and subsequently moved to their current 7,000 square-foot downtown showroom on Varick Street. They continue to manufacture their furnishings in a factory at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where they make use of sustainably harvested hardwoods and natural plant oils. Showroom pieces are a mix of the items made in their factory, and the remaining inventory is sourced from small producers in New England and from Amish communities. They also sell chemical-free mattresses.

This furniture is way too conservative for my tastes, but I do love that it is Brooklyn made

Some of the best furniture is sourced from Amish communities. They usually have a higher standard of quality and craftsmanship, more so than mass produced pieces. The selection may be a bit traditional, but I always like to have a classic piece or two in my home.

What mattresses does Scott Jordan carry that are ‘chemical free’? Please advise.

Why doesn’t Scott Jordan Furniture mention all the Polypropylene in their [Berkeley Ergonomic) “Natural Mattresses” on their web site?

They describe all the other components of the Berkeley mattresses but never mentions the Polypropylene. Why could that be?
