LowLine Underground Park Launches Line of NYC-Centric Holiday Gifts to Raise Funds

If you’re rooting for the LowLine underground park [5] to come to fruition, now you can lend your support while getting some pretty sweet Christmas gifts to boot! Just in time for the holidays, the creators of the Delancey Underground [6] have launched a line of New York-centric goods [7], with 100% of the profits going to the LowLine effort. If that isn’t incentive enough for you, each gift is also partially tax deductible.

If it comes to be, the LowLine Park will transform the abandoned trolley terminal beneath Delancey Street into the world’s first underground park illuminated by solar technology [9]. Since the Lower East Side has little green space, the new park could bring a new public area, while also introducing park goers to the potential of green technology.
Supporters can nab a piece of subway history with one of local designer Erica Weiner’s vintage subway token necklaces [10]. Each token, which bought commuters a ride long before Metrocards, is strung on a delicate chain, to be worn with New York pride. The necklaces are the perfect gift for a local or friend from out of town who loves history.
The LowLine shop also has comfy hoodie sweatshirts and t-shirts emblazoned with the LowLine [11] logo and printed on ethically-made American Apparel clothing. Canvas totes are also a totes cool way to support the cause while keeping the environment in mind with a plastic bag alternative.
