Rice and Lipka [13]’s Carriage Houses [14] for Staten Island Historical Society are a series of curvilinear structures capped with red glass. Complementing this project is Mary Miss [13]’ “The Passage: A Moving Memorial,” which is unique in its recognition as the only project from the Cultural Affair’s Percent for Art Program.

HNTB [15]’s Squibb Pedestrian Bridge will connect Brooklyn Bridge Park [16] to Brooklyn Heights in a zig zag pattern, giving walkers ease of mind to cross without dealing with cars while East Elmhurst’s library addition by Garrison Architects [17] adds important space for the busy library hub, utilizing sustainable materials, and energy saving design. In the Bronx, the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis showcases an array of outdoor tennis programs designed by Peter Gluck Architects.

Three projects highlighting community park space and gardens [18] were also recognized; the Flatbush Avenue Entrance and Terrace Café, Governors Island Park and Public Spaces, and the Central Park Conservancy Plan, whose overall work has developed a richer, more public friendly park for tourists and locals alike.
