Service has returned to near normal on six Long Island Railroad lines, but it is still suspended on seven others.

If you’re one of the millions of railroad commuters, however, your commute is likely to be more affected. Service has returned to near normal on six Long Island Railroad lines, but it is still suspended on seven others. With mudslides and significant flooding, the Metro-North definitely fared worst during Irene, and none of the three lines are yet in operation. Local streams and The Bronx River continue to overflow, and crews are working to clean up the damage from three mudslides.
