You know all that energy you use while dancing up a storm at a concert? What if you could take that energy and help power the show? Pedal Power NYC has decided that there’s no need to wonder what if any longer. Using stationary bicycles and volunteers looking to put their legs to some use, Pedal Power NYC is able to power up some awesome concerts that are completely off the grid with The Natural Ass Session, a fantastic idea that merges natural, renewable energy (just add some food and water) with awesome music. They are currently seeking volunteers to help power the city’s first bike-powered concert series happening on June 26.
The organization, like many others out there, noticed that humans are kind of awesome and wanted to make the most of all that energy we’ve got running through our systems. Newly fabricated bike generators have made it possible for The Natural Ass Sessions to be the first sound pedal-powered musical rehearsals in New York City and the organization is offering up some backstage passes to the five most active pedalers during the upcoming rehearsals and Bushwick Open Studios session this week and weekend. The passes would be for the first totally pedal-powered music stage at NYC Celebrates Water Festival in Union Square on June 26th featuring local musicians to help set the mood.
Pedal Power NYC’s first rehearsal session is this afternoon at 4:30, plus Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by the Bushwick Open Studios Sessions this weekend at 428 Troutman Street in Brooklyn, right off the L-Train. All volunteer pedalers will be provided nourishment and plenty of love from the bands and concert goers.
