We’re still mourning over Rainbow City’s good-bye, but there’s still reason to be excited! Opening TODAY is the brand new roller rink designed by HWKN in partnership with the High Line masters themselves, Diller Scofidio + Renfro and James Corner Field Operations! Located at the High Line’s ‘The Lot’ at 30th Street, the retro rink’s design might not be as crazy as the neon blow-up wonderland of Rainbow City, but clocking in at 8,000 square feet, it will certainly give us quite a bit of rollin’ summer fun over the next few weeks. So are your wheels all greased and ready to go?!
UNIQLO is sponsoring the rink, and the store will have a pop-up shop located beside the rink in the lot. The rink itself is designated by orange and white construction barriers and the skating ground is painted with large zig-zags that seem to swirl around. DJs will provide skating tunes, and rentals will be available.
The Rink opens next Thursday, July 28 and closes on September 26. It will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an admission fee of $10 for kids and $12 for adults, which includes a pair of rental skates.
