Gallery: One World Trade Center Tower Reaches 100 Stories

  • One World Trade Center, whose completion has been consistently delayed, has finally reached 100 stories high. The green skyscraper rises on the 16 acre site that once held the Twin Towers. When completed, 1 WTC will be New York’s tallest building. Currently, One World Trade is a measly four feet shorter than New York’s current tallest tower: the Empire State Building.

Once completed, the building will rise above the Empire State Building by 118 feet, reaching 1,368 feet into the sky. The building encompasses the space of 100 stories, but is in fact just 93, which accounts for expanded floors for the buildings base and mechanical equipment. Major tenants planned for the new tower include Conde Nast, which will relocate its offices from Midtown to One World Trade in 2014, as well as China Center. The site also hosts the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
