PHOTOS: Hurricane Sandy Already Flooding Brooklyn and Manhattan

New Yorkers were told that the brunt of Hurricane Sandy ^[6] would be coming this afternoon but areas of waterfront Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan are already seeing several feet of flooding. NYPD began patrolling parts of Greenpoint and Williamsburg on the East River this morning and closed down ferry piers, some of which are close to being underwater (see our photos). Authorities are strongly advising that people living in these zones jump ship as soon as possible, but if you're intent on holding down the fort, be sure to check out these survival tips ^[6].

This fence decided to call it quits before Hurricane Sandy even started.

We stepped outside to take these photos around 10am this morning but were warned shortly after by police to get away from the pier.

The East River has already begun to overflow onto lower Manhattan as well.
