Gallery: PHOTOS: Olek’s Crazy Crocheted “Room” at the Festival of Ideas...

If you think your aunt Ida is crazy for crocheting, wait'll you get a load of Olek, the artist responsible for the wonderfully woven art installation that popped up on the Bowery as part of the Festival of Ideas just yesterday. We've featured the Polish crochet master's work before, but this is the first time we got a chance to get up close and personal with her yarn-bombed "room," interacting with and even rubbing our fingers over the New York artist's handiwork (don't worry, we washed our hands first). Every inch of the colorful exhibition was clad in crochet, from an ironing board, to an entire bed to a TV - even the human beings were crocheted! In fact, we were curious to see whether or not one of these head-to-toe yarn people was the artist herself, but they weren't talking. Or maybe they just couldn't since their mouths were covered in yarn?
