Gallery: Planters Grove Park Designed by Ken Smith Coming to the Lower ...

While we’re still daydreaming about the Low Line park proposed for the Lower East Side, the neighborhood will be breaking ground on another new park this Monday, October 3rd. While smaller and less fantastical (it’s above ground like a normal park), the new green space will be located in an underused lot in NYCHA’s Lillian Wald Houses. The park is sponsored by Planters as part of the company’s “Naturally Remarkable” tour, where the snack food company transforms underutilized urban spaces into vibrant green lots. The small park will be designed by noted landscape architect Ken Smith, and local community group Green City Force will help with its construction.
