Gallery: Pratt Center for Community Development’s Made in NYC Holiday S...

With the holidays right around the corner, the Pratt Center for Community Development has launched their Made in NYC Holiday Shop, which features a hub of small businesses manufacturing right in NYC. A month after super storm Sandy hit NYC, these companies are still dealing with the damage and need help getting back on their feet. When Sandy stormed through the city, it hit many areas where manufacturing facilities and factories are located, stunting operations for small businesses that proudly make their products in the city. Shopping local this holiday season (or any other time of year) will help these small businesses pay for their employees and inventory, and also restore the local economy.

Though there are many ways to help out those affected by Sandy, buying your holidays gifts this year from a local company is the best contribution you can make. You’ll be supporting local businesses and giving back to the city you love so much. So whether you live in NYC or across the pond, anyone can help out by just placing an order. On Made in NYC Holiday Shop’s website, consumers can be directed to food companies like Inhabitat favorite Cafe Grumpy as well as apparel and accessory businesses such as RESTORE Clothing, Hanky Panky, Feral Childe and more.

If you’re an small business in NYC that would like to be featured, you can register here.
