The New York Vegetarian Food Festival is kicking off its 2012 edition this weekend (March 3rd and 4th) at The Metropolitan Pavilion. The festival will be enticing vegetarians, vegans, and healthy eaters for the second year in a row, with a bevy of restaurants, veggie food vendors, and product purveyors joining events on healthy living, sustainability, vegetarianism, and nutrition. There will also be several special speakers and musical performances.
Hosted by the US Veg Corp, this year’s festival will bring even more delicious veggie goodies up for offer. Due to last year’s incredible success — and long lines to get in — the fest is now at the much larger Metropolitan Pavilion, with longer hours of operation this year. Over 75 vendors will be present this year, including local and national companies like Coconut Bliss, Goodie Girl Edibles, Honest Tea, Yves Veggie Cuisine, and the Vegan Bodega. Herbivore Clothing will showcase their cruelty-free line of clothing and accessories, and several animal rescue organizations (and of course PETA) will provide information on how to help.
Aside from introducing visitors to new vegetarian foods and products and filling their bellies, the festival will also host a schedule of special events. Each day will host lectures by speakers such as Amie Hamlin of the Coalition for Healthy School Food and Steve Meyerowitz will talk about growing your own salad in your kitchen. There will also be yoga, belly dancing, and live music by Michi Koegger and Dynasty Electric.
Tickets are only $5 and help benefit For The Animals Sanctuary.
