A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect this morning for most of New York state and several other surrounding cities. The National Weather Service is reporting that its Doppler radar has detected severe thunderstorms capable of 60 mph winds heading into the area. The massive system is located just six miles southeast of Wallkill moving eastwards at 35 miles per hour. The storm is part of a large cell that will affect many major cities including Buffalo, N.Y.; New York City, N.Y.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Boston, Mass.; Burlington, Va.; Toronto, ON.; and Montreal, QB.

On its current trajectory, it will be arriving at Livingston, Poughkeepsie, Marlboro, Red Oaks Mill, Pleasant Valley, Myers Corner, and Stanfordville. The weather service advises everyone to take shelter as the storm will bring dangerously damaging winds, hail, and ground lightning.
