Ladies, are you jealous of your man’s time in his stinky old man cave? If so, it might be time to get your own “She Shed”! According to NBC TODAY, more and more women have been embracing the trend of building their own special getaway cottages. Sandra Foster, who built her own sassy She Shed in New York’s Catskills Mountains, says she uses the tiny space to escape the pressures of work and to have some peaceful personal time.

Although Foster’s She Shed is tiny, it has enough room for a sofa, bookshelves and even a loft with a bed. She readily admits that she uses the special space to relax and sometimes, get some space from her husband. “I did it to save my marriage and recharge my life,” Foster told TODAY.

Writer Barbara Techel loves the premise behind the shed, but prefers to call hers a “Zen Writing Cottage.” She also encourages women to put their own personal sense of style into the decor of their sheds to really make the space a personal retreat.

Techel says that her cottage, which she built with the help of her husband eight years ago, is full of her own special touches. “Three different whimsical cardboard cutout fairies hang from the ceiling in front of three of my long windows,” she said. “They slowly spin catching my eye now and then making me smile. My tabletop fountain trickles a slow meditative stream of water. Three fairy figurines surround the fountain and I swear that I sometimes hear them playing in the water.”
