As with their other projects, COOKFOX employed their biophilic design knowledge and experience for 550 Vanderbilt, paying special attention to resident health and access to green space. In addition to sitting right on the 8-acre Pacific Park, the development will offer a number of areas where occupants can connect with nature, from a landscaped rooftop deck to private terraces and other greenery-infused environments.

“We’re passionate about the idea that a healthy, resilient city depends on diversity and the highest quality housing and we believe that we’ve made that the heart and soul of 550,” said COOKFOX founding partner Rick Cook.

The building was designed to meet LEED Silver specifications and all of the paints, fabrics and other materials used for the project are low-VOC. The apartments are also equipped with air filtration systems to ensure indoor air quality.

550 Vanderbilt’s 278 residences range from studios to four-bedrooms, and are characterized by large windows with built-in planters, high ceilings and open living spaces.

The newly completed 2-bedroom/2-bathroom model apartment showcases some of the rich finishes used throughout the rest of the building. The open kitchen features an over-sized island and Miele appliances flanked by custom lacquer cabinetry, while the bathrooms are kitted out with Carrara marble vanities and flooring.

In addition to green spaces like the 8th floor roofdeck, residents will also have access to a fitness center, a lounge with fireplace, a library, a chef’s kitchen, a children’s playroom, and even a supermarket.

550 Vanderbilt is currently 50% sold, and is expected to open in December 2016.
