If you love parks and drinking, here’s a chance to raise your glass to both! In partnership with Absolut Vodka, the team behind the Lowline has created the “Absolut Lowline Cocktail,” a fun and tasty way to fundraise and gain local support for the world’s first-ever subterranean park. Here’s how it works: Participating bars throughout the Lower East Side create a unique Absolut Lowline Cocktail recipe and donate $1 from each one sold to support the Lowline. We’ll drink to that!

As NYC becomes increasingly choked for affordable real estate, the Lowline hopes to tap into the abundance of underground space by turning an abandoned trolley terminal beneath Delancey Street into a gathering space for the local neighborhood. Newly designed fiber-optic technology would channel enough natural light into the space for plants to grow.

Last year, the Lowline team held a successful and internationally-backed Kickstarter campaign that raised over $150,000. This year, together with their sponsor Absolut Vodka, the team wants to focus on building local community support. The Lowline founders stress that they want the park to serve as a vibrant and flexible community arts space that is even more active than the High Line.

Ready to make that philanthropic toast to the Lowline? You can check out these three LES bars, each with a unique twist to the Absolut Lowline cocktail – 2nd Floor on Clinton, Donnybrook, and Hotel on Rivington – and keep an eye out for more locations to come.
