Mark your calendars, New Yorkers! The Hester Street Fair is BACK! We had a blast at the event last year, and we are thrilled that the beloved street fair is returning to New York’s Lower East Side this Saturday, May 7. Hester Street is joining the Lower FEAST Side Food Festival to make its 2011 debut a big one. More than 30 local food vendors will be hawking their goods, along with dozens of local designers and artisans. Plus, Lower Manhattan is hosting the highly-anticipated Festival of Ideas that same weekend. Clear your schedules, because it’s going to be an event that you don’t want to miss!

The Hester Street Fair was founded last year by Suchin Pak (of MTV fame). The fair took over an abandoned lot and transformed it into a vibrant community gathering place. It immediately became popular, so everyone is super excited that it’s returning for round two. This year, visitors will enjoy food from the Vietnamese sandwich shop An Choi, British cafe The Fat Radish, and Macaron Parlor — just to name a few — all while browsing the racks of some of our favorite local shops and designers. There will be vintage from Summer Mizera, unique jewelry and accessories from Wink and Flip, crafty creations from On the Fringe, natural skincare products from Marble & Milkweed, and much, much more! See the full list of opening day vendors below.

Unlike last year, the Hester Street Fair will only be open on Saturdays, but Pak has hinted that Sundays could play host to special events and themed markets. We are firm believers in “think global, act local,” and what better way to bring that to fruition than supporting local businesses and meeting your neighbors in your local park? We’ll see you there!
