A collaboration between non-profit arts organization Chashama, Brooklyn arts organization 3rd Ward, Artists Wanted, TheDanger and Macro-Sea, The Palms is a throwback to the Boca Raton Resort Pools of the 1940s. Repurposed dumpsters are gathered around this lot, which is just a short walk from PS 1. We’ve seen dumpster pools before, but never done quite like this.
For the its last weekend, The Palms is pulling out all the stops. This Saturday, performer of the moment Reggie Watts will bring the magic at 9pm with his mix of comedy and vocal delights. Opening for Reggie are Small Black, a mix of eclectic beauty, dance-pop and something called “CASIOBlaze,” and Lemonade, “a liquid mix of rough edged Brooklyn rock and West Coast influenced psychedelic dance.” All night DJs include Stretch Armstrong, Bobbito, J.Period and more.
There will be a sunset performance by Lady Circus, and you can have your moment in the spotlight with the Self Portrait Project. During the day, you can indulge with a relaxing massage by Erika Verdejo, and of course, splash around in the awesome dumpster pools built by Macro Sea. After dark, the dumpster pools are “clothing optional,” so watch out (or take full advantage…)! The cost for Saturday is $10 before 7 p.m. and $20 after. The fun continues on Sunday with a dance party DJed by Spank & Rocket (Wrecked!). All weekend, Luke’s Lobster will be selling its famous lobster rolls and Jamaican Dutchy will be serving Caribbean cuisine.
Both 3rd Ward and Chashama are integral in providing venues and support for New York area artists, with exhibitions, classes and events.

Thank you for featuring the Palms parties that are hosted on our Queens lot. It really is such a fun event for locals to get involved with, and a great way to end the summer!
How could one a person purchase a dumpster pool, to install perminently, at my home my home?
It’s a very nice gesture but I cant imagine swimming in a pool as narrow as a dumpster. Ultimately the agenda is to make the East and Hudson rivers clean enough to swim in again.
