There’s little that we like more than awesome eco-friendly products made by local designers right here in New York City, so you can imagine our delight when we discovered the War Craft Collection by Uhuru, a line of furniture created with used deck wood from the USS North Carolina. We fell in love the Brooklyn design studio long ago, thanks to their gorgeous sustainable designs and knack for weaving local history into their pieces, like in the Coney Island Line, which they created from worn boardwalk planks. This time, Uhuru used wood from a decorated WWII battleship that was constructed in the Brooklyn Navy Yard to create a limited addition line of furniture that pays homage to its source material with clean lines and industrial shapes.
