If you’re a fan of the micro-apartment frenzy that’s hit NYC, here’s a chance to bring a piece of the tiny housing revolution into your own home. In celebration of its hugely popular ‘Making Room’ exhibit, the Museum of the City of New York has announced that it will be holding a contest to give away a Cubista ottoman/coffee table/chair set combo—a $1,000 transformative furniture piece that has been a visitor favorite. The contest was announced in tandem with the museum’s decision to extend the installation’s run to September 15th so that more people can check it out.

To address the housing crisis faced by NYC’s growing population of single adults, the Citizens Housing & Planning Council teamed up with the City Museum to explore solutions to the problem and showcase a full-size, flexibly furnished, 325 square-foot micro-studio apartment. Efficient, creative, and customizable, the model apartment has drawn throngs of visitors from around the world to what has proven to be the museum’s most popular exhibition in recent years.

MCNY even hosted a series of events to show just how flexible these tiny spaces can be, from hosting cooking demonstrations to inviting New Yorkers to try out the micro-studio for 24 hours. Starting on Friday, August 30th until September 15th, visitors will also have the chance to enter in a contest to win the sought-after Cubista, a $1,000 coffee table/ottoman that can also transform into seating for up to five people.
