As freezing temperatures sweep across the states, we can't help but bundle up and dream about a tropical escape. Villa Tantangan is a gorgeous three bedroom retreat nestled on the west coast of Bali near the private and secluded Nyanyi Beach. It was designed by Valentina Audrito of Word of Mouth studio to make the most of its site and connect its residents with their natural surroundings.
Villa Tantangan enjoys a remote off-grid location and is thought to be the first fully sustainable villa of its size in Bali. Word of Mouth focused on minimizing the project’s energy consumption with solar panels and natural ventilation. The residences’ flat roofs are beautiful oases planted with shrubs that provide insulation while helping to integrate the villa into the lush surrounding environment.
LED lighting has been incorporated throughout, and a back-up generator is available on-site in case the sun fails to shine. The villa overlooks a serene garden designed by landscape architect John Pettigrew, who planted the green site with a variety of rare cacti as well as trees and flowers.
