Award-winning mixed-use sustainable development Greenhouse in Leeds is bucking the current stagnant commercial property market as business owners and financial directors are choosing to invest in sustainability. Berkeley Civil Engineering Contractors, Looking4parking.com, Zero50, and Improving Health & Wellbeing UK have all recently moved into the sustainable office space. With tenants now spanning architects, designers, technology companies, social enterprises and creative industry organizations, businesses have been flocking to Greenhouse since 2011 and there’s no sign of this letting up.
Citu believe their success is two-fold. Head of Sales & Marketing Aisling Ramshaw said: “We put this success down to a couple of key factors. Firstly down to the fact that if businesses are in a position to buy into property, buying sustainable is the sensible choice. When committing capital into property there are many more considerations to make these days than there were a few years ago. With Greenhouse being a high performing, energy-efficient, low-carbon building it’s built for the future. This is important especially due to the EPC regulations coming into play in 2016, which will see many commercial spaces fall short on carbon efficiencies. Commercial buyers at Greenhouse are looking to the long-term and they value the fact that Greenhouse is a solid investment, so they can settle in without having to move or commit further expense.
Secondly we’ve realized that thriving businesses want more than just an office, they’re looking for dynamic working spaces. Greenhouse is a great place to work thanks to the on-site facilities and sense of community that’s developed amongst businesses on-site. This is an important factor for our tenants.”
