Not a fan of the excess that comes with smart phones? Then lose all of those unnecessary apps and fold yourself a frills free phone that not only looks cool, but boasts an unrivaled material efficiency. Designed by Chengyuan Wei the Origami Phone is equipped with the same minimal components of a typical handset, but folds from flat into a three-dimensional object that is as beautiful and clean as a paper crane. Each phone is composed simply of a hardboard, chip, telecture, diaphragm microphone, electrical wire and metal stitch, and can be easily broken down and disposed of at the end of its useful life, with minimal impact.

If I am seeing the pictures correctly, this device is not a phone, but simply a handset for a phone.

there does not appear to be any difference between this phone and any cordless device in most homes, save for it’s structural components… what gives? this idea only plays into one aspect of the problem: litter. and considering what must be a pretty short life-span for this cardboard object, it won’t do even that very efficiently.
another problem that this does not address, are gHz. a microwave oven used approx. 2.45 gHz when on. most cordless devices use 2.5 and up. many are as high as 5.8 gHz.
are people developing cancerous growths in and around the areas that the phone hangs out the most often? don’t kid yourself, the results are NOT in.
