People Change Places Offers Six Strategies for Earthquake-Ravaged Lota, Chile

The City Systems is an annual project hosted by the Institute without Boundaries (IwB) in Toronto, Canada that attempts to help students understand how they can build more resilient cities. This year’s team focused on resolving the challenges facing Lota, an earthquake-ravaged municipality in Chile. The resulting project, People Change Places, was designed to focus on six objectives: community empowerment, public space enhancement, increased mobility, housing innovation, institutional restoration and economic prosperity. Explore the pages ahead to learn how these students came to understand resilient city systems, and how they developed six strategies to support a revitalization Plan for Lota.
