The Peugeot EX1 electric car concept, which has already broken half a dozen speed records, has added another notch to its belt. The EX1 recently obliterated the old lap record for electric cars at the Nurburgring's Nordschleife - the world's proving ground for performance cars.
With a lap time of 9:01.338, the electric Peugeot knocked an incredible 50 seconds off the previous record time, on a track where shaving just one full second off a lap record is considered an accomplishment. The electric, four-wheel-drive Peugeot averaged a speed of 85 miles per hour during its record run, and was powered by two motors providing a total of 340 horsepower.
