With a lap time of 9:01.338, the electric Peugeot knocked an incredible 50 seconds off the previous record time, on a track where shaving just one full second off a lap record is considered an accomplishment. The electric, four-wheel-drive Peugeot averaged a speed of 85 miles per hour during its record run, and was powered by two motors providing a total of 340 horsepower.

Peugeot just released these photos of the EX1 Concept going around the Nurburgring, where it set a near-9-minute record lap time.

The previous record holder for the fastest electric car lap at the Nurburgring was a full 50 seconds slower than the EX1, an astounding improvement.

The EX1 Concept originally debuted at the 2010 Paris International Auto Show, after which it set about breaking every electric car speed record out there.

The all-electric EX1 is powered by two motors that provide a total of 340 horsepower via the axles.
