Starck is a long-time bike rider and lover of the freedom bikes convey, both physically and mentally, and he first came to know Moustache Bikes as a customer. A collaboration became inevitable and thus, S+ARCKBIKE with Moustache was born. Of the benefits of e-bikes Starck says: “Cycling is one of man’s most powerful accessories. It offers almost endless possibilities with a minimum of material. The bicycle is on the path of dematerialization, which is a symptom of our civilization. Just like man over time has increased his physical potential, the bike has naturally acquired electric energy to better serve humanity.”
The bikes are designed and hand-assembled in France using some of the best technologies available, such as Bosch drive systems, comfort elements by fi’zi:k, Schwalbe tires, and Shimano XTR gearing and brakes. The partnership states: “The electrically assisted M.A.S.S. bikes have the elegance of intelligence, emphasizing technological innovation and ergonomics in the service of absolute luxury and comfort. They are the guarantee of an alternative, top of the line mobility that is relaxing and clean.”
The Mud bike is an all-terrain bike with a dual suspension frame. Asphalt is designed for fast and comfortable urban use, and while currently available in a 25 km/h version, it will also have a 45km/h counterpart. Sand is designed for coastal riding and features huge Schwalbe tires to provide the necessary lift on sand, as well as a protective cover against the elements and integrated stowage. Snow also features large Schwalbe tires, and a mono-arm fork that allows optimum snow evacuation. It also features a nifty faux fur frame cover to keep the battery warm. A line of tailor-made accessories dedicated to each use and each model complements the collection, and includes Causse gloves, Giro helmets, S+ARCKEYES glasses and backpacks. Other items will be added to the collection in time.
The M.A.S.S. collection can be viewed at the 2014 Eurobike Fair from 27 to 30 August, 2014 (FG – 0107 booth, Freigelände Ost area).
