We recently visited Les Docks, Cité de la Mode et du Design to check out the Now! Le Off show for Paris Design Week, and we were blown away by the building's beautiful green roof. A monumental new center in the city of light located right on the margins of the Seine, Les Docks houses a fashion institute, a space for events, high-end shops, cafes and a beautiful panoramic green terrace. Architects Dominique Jakob and Brendan Macfarlane recently rejuvenated the former 1907 warehouse and turning it into one of Paris´ design hotspots.
Les Docks´ four floors can be wandered around using the iconic indoor-outdoor green stairs located on the facade of the concrete building. The top floor offers great views of the city as well as a green outdoor recreation and office space, a teahouse, an eclectic restaurant, a vibrant club and a fantastic ¨Moon Roof¨. Designed by architects Kristian Gavoille and Valerie Garcia, the luna roof was imagined to be used during both day and night.
With green-roofed shelters, bars, plenty of green, outdoor eating spaces and even a cute wooden hut, Les Docks´ terrace is a popular little retreat for fashion students. Live DJ sets, films, conferences and workshops are some of the activities that can be enjoyed during the day. Cool, green and not too crowded (yet), Cité de la Mode´s roof terrace by the Seine is best enjoyed on sunny days and clear nights.
