Now that the warm weather is in full swing (happy first day of summer everyone!), we’re excited to see some fresh outdoor installations popping up all over NYC [5]. But we have to admit that these temporary exhibits aren’t always the most sustainable – which is why we were stoked to see that the much anticipated “Holding Pattern [4]” installation at MoMa PS1 [4] in Long Island City has a clever green twist. The designers, Interboro Partners, actually went around to businesses, non-profits and other organizations in the community asking what objects they needed most. The young architects then either built or purchased these items for everyone to enjoy in the museum courtyard during the summer, and when fall comes, each piece will be donated to the neighborhood group that needs it! We visited Holding Pattern yesterday – check out our pics [4] here!
