Gallery: GIVE A GARDEN OR PLANT 50 TREES: Oxfam Unwrapped

What’s better than giving the gift of living, breathing greenery? Knowing that your gift is bringing life and prosperity to both the environment and people in need around the world. Oxfam’s Unwrapped gift-giving program allows donors to make the most of their donations, providing financial assistance Oxfam’s many programs, while giving a gift that supports those who benefit most. Give just $30 and plant 50 trees, or give $150 to plant a garden that will help families earn a living by planting fruits and vegetables they can sell in local markets. We love the ecological focus of these gifts that stresses the sometimes overlooked connection between humanitarian efforts, environmental commitments, and even issues of local food and agriculture.

Oxfam’s Unwrapped program works like this:

“Oxfam America works in 26 countries around the world. This catalog contains gift items that symbolically represent our work. The items selected represent project goals from grants disbursed by our seven offices around the world. The purchase of each gift item is a contribution toward Oxfam America’s many programs, not a donation to a specific project or goal. Your donation will be used where it is needed the most–to help people living in poverty throughout the world.”

Gifts range from trees and gardens to water jugs, cans of worms, even camels. Even a small donation can make a difference- a mere $18 (what you might spend on lunch) can purchase a can of worms to provide farmers with an indispensable tool for cultivating their land.

Now there’s a great way to give, and know that your donation is really making a difference for the environment, agriculture, economy, and individual lives.

Oxfam International is a confederation of 13 organizations working together with over 3,000 partners in more than 100 countries to find lasting solutions to poverty, suffering and injustice. + Oxfam Unwrapped
