Following today’s theme of animal excrement as viable design material (dare I say Tuesday = “Poo”sday?), here’s another great example of turning waste into function. It turns out elephant dung is chock-full of the fibrous materials ideal for making paper. The Great Elephant PooPoo Paper Company collects the waste from elephant conservation parks, rinse, boil, and color it, and add a dash of other natural goodness like banana and pineapple tree fibers. The sheets are even formed naturally, the paper pulp poured and into a tray angled against a tree, facing the sun to dry. It doesn’t get much more pure than that! Plus the notecards, stationery, and envelopes are simple, colorful, and many boast the image of the company’s namesake “elefriends.”

Ok what kind of chemicals does it take to make this poo paper.
And what kind of energy is used?

They give a “portion” of their profits to somehow improve elephant welfare. I’m not sure this is legitimate.
Any happy customers?
This is a beautiful creation. I have a horse and would love to recycle his waste, not to mention that of the other equines on the property where he lives. The owners of my stable pay 1000′s of dollars each month to have it hauled away to a land fill. Ever since the spinach e coli disaster (caused largely by factory farms), no one wants the manure for free,…. fearful of ecoli. Hence, board increases, etc. So,…..if I could figure out how to turn the waste into something useful, it would be a win win for everyone. Please write me back or respond.
Many thanks,
S
You shuold do different kinds of animals poo!! That would be so cool I would buy every single one that you made I love your product. I have just bought one of your wonderful poo jornals.
Why not give the percentage in real numbers-that would motivate me; as well as what percentage goes to the people making the product
